"Easy Edit" pages
Bespoke "Easy Edit" pages have customers in mind who want their site to have the polish and look of professional design, but wish to retain the ability to edit for themselves, without necessarily having great knowhow. Although they may not have the budget for a complete content management system, they feel that they could cope with editing their own pages if the process could be reduced to "press return and start typing" or "cut and paste" from a pre-defined simple selection, employing normal editing software - and they want their site to look expensive without being expensive!
All layout and styling is taken care of automatically, including colours, font sizes and placement of elements on the page. The page remains a HTML webpage, but I have considered the whole editing process and tried to reduce the input to the minimum, employing the easiest process I can devise. If you can cope with typing a simple Word document, you can cope with editing these pages!
No compromise to design ...
Every "Easy Edit" site receives the same personal attention to design as any full service site. The overall look and feel of the site should not be compromised, but they are designed with ease of editing as of paramount importance.
Coding used is as simple as possible and works on most browsers and is designed to meet Accessibility Guidelines. These are NOT templates as produced by Dreamweaver - these are bespoke and personally hard coded. That way I know that they will work on different browsers.
Your site can either be provided as the basic page template outlines for you to populate with your own content, or as the full site with all pages laid out ready for you to edit in the future. Training for editing is given and I also provide full instruction pages, which are hidden behind the website so they can be accessed from any location.
Considering "Easy Edit" or a content management solution? ...
In practice both are very easy to use. However the content management solution employs a web based back office facility which means that editing is easy, allowing both editing from any location with web access and multiple editors. Because you are editing in a third party facility, it is impossible to mess up any other areas of the page that you did not intend to change. It manages to be both a sophisticated content management system and an extremely user friendly editing interface to your own pages.
"Easy Edit" is obviously a more cost effective option, which can only be achieved by editing the actual page you intend. The process has been reduced to the simplest that I can devise, but it would still be possible to highlight other areas of the page and make changes there.
